Lost Prescriptions

It is common for patients to call my office saying they lost their phen-pro prescriptions. Years ago I read a study claiming that in 70% of such cases the patients are lying. I wish I could find that study again because I would like to review how the study was done. More...

Thanksgiving

Today on National Public Radio (NPR) I heard the average American consumes 3000 calories on Thanksgiving Day. I didn't catch the source of the claim, but I bet it's true. Three thousand

On Friday I saw my 3000th patient for weight control therapy. It took me ten years to treat so many. I did it one patient at a time, spending at least thirty minutes with each one, sometimes an hour. No efficiency-minded physician would practice the way I have. But I have learned a lot, and a hundred people are alive only because of me. It's Hard Doc

Sometimes obese male patients on phen-pro have returned to my office having lost no weight and declared, "It's hard, doc". We must think about what they mean by that. We must think because most men are non-verbal. Questioning them often doesn't clarify the matter. They elaborate saying merely, "Well you know doc, it's hard." More...
