I can tell you the origin of the stigma regarding phentermine. First there is the general stigma against all pills aimed at "psychological" conditions. Ignorant people do not regard such conditions as real. They believe patients could get better through a mere act of will.

Hunger
A famous endocrinologist once told me that any diabetic who never has low blood sugar is not in good control. It's true. And it is also true that any dieting overweight person must feel some hunger sometime, or they won't lose weight.
