    Since so many people follow my Mesages of the Week now, I have kicked up the length of the messages. But every now and then I like to toss in a short, practical message for the folks trying to lose weight. 

    Here is one. Eat snacks on plates.

    ​Let's be clear, I really don't want you snacking at all. Snacking is wrong, un-French, and fattening because it keeps the insulin level high blocking  weight loss. But the fact is, not all my patients do as I ask. So I offer a compromise--if you are going to  snack anyway, at least put the snack on a plate. Preferably a small dark plate. You will find you eat less without knowing it, and the snack is more satisfying.
