The Egg Story

Many of you, if you were watching the wrong channel, which was most channels, saw a story in the last two days with the headline "Egg yolks almost as dangerous as smoking". Anyone who has heard me talk, or traveled to foreign countries such as France where people eat a lot of eggs but outlive us by 4 years and have a lower risk of heart attack, or anyone who has read my new book Medical Myths Doctors Believe which teaches in plain terms how to evaluate evidence, or anyone with common sense, will know there is something wrong with the egg study.
ABC News presented a thoughtful analysis of the poorly-done retrospective Canadian study. Their funny headline was "Egg story not all it’s cracked up to be" .:-)
Bottom line. You don’t have to limit your consumption of eggs. Eat what you like. Just don’t overeat, and don’t snack. Come on folks, life is not so complex. You don’t need a PhD to know what to eat. You don’t need charlatans and morons to tell you what to eat. Cavemen did nicely for 200,000 years eating whatever they could get. Homo sapiens–that’s you–lived for almost 200,000 years eating a diet consisting mainly of meat and fish, and a few nuts and berries. Do you really believe we would have evolved in a way that (nearly) our only food, red meat, was toxic for us? P-l-e-a-s-e have more intelligence than that.
Of course cavemen didn’t eat many eggs. Chickens came to us from southeast Asia fairly late in the evolution game. But still... heart disease has nothing to do with what you eat. It’s so obvious.
