Last week an obese patient returned to my office having gained weight instead of losing. She told me I should be “proud of her”.
I asked, “Why?”
She said, “Because I am eating lots of small meals each day.”
I said, “I didn’t tell you to do that.”
She said, “I know, but my friends told me it’s the best way to lose weight.”
There is so much wrong with this. So typical of the United States where people put faith in what people merely say. Americans seek belief, not knowledge. They don’t see the difference.
