Safer Than Phen-Fen! (book)
By Michael Anchors, M.D., Ph.D.
Anyone interested in phen-pro should read Michael Anchors' book "Safer Than Phen-Fen". While it remains an adequate guide for people wishing to use phen-pro and lose weight, there is new information not contained in the book.
For people interested in losing weight, I suggest getting the manuals given to patients in my office (next item).
For those interested in history, Safer Than Phen-Fen was the first book in which the problem with fenfluramine was described.

Phen-Pro Medications (not for sale)
I encourage patients seeking prescription medicines to obtain them from their doctor. Phentermine and Prozac can be purchased abundantly over the Internet without a prescription, but to avoid creating a doctor-patient relationship with readers of this website, I cannot reveal the URLs of the websites where the drugs are sold. I regret that many doctors will not prescribe phen-pro because they haven't bothered to inform themselves about it. I suggest you shop for a doctor who will. Many are listed on the national phen-pro doctor list on this website.
5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan)
5-HTP is used to restore the effectiveness of phen-pro in those patients in whom phen-pro loses some punch.
5-HTP can be used instead of Prozac to extend the effect of phentermine.
5-HTP is an over-the-counter medicine available in drug stores and vitamin shops, but many brands are impure and don't contain the full dose of 5-HTP.
You can obtain a very pure brand, at a price lower than in most stores, from Larry Hobbs, publisher of Obesity Research Update on-line at FatNews.com
